Service Bill Sullivan, managing director of UDs Courtyard by Marriott, completed a two-week certification program to become a Marriott Certified General Manager of the hotel, which is scheduled to open in November. Suzanne Burton, assistant professor of music education, established an early careers discussion group for first through third year Delaware music educators that will meet throughout the academic year to address concerns and issues faced by novice music teachers. Honors John Scoggin Jr., adjunct faculty in computer and information sciences, was awarded the Brevet Colonel award, the highest civilian award, from the 261st Signal Brigade, Signal Corps Regimental Association, of the Delaware Army National Guard. Marian Palley, professor of political science and international relations, received the Erika Fairchild Award, presented every other year by the Womens Caucus of the Southern Political Science Association. The award recognizes a political scientist with a strong record of scholarship with a commitment to students, teaching and mentoring women in the field.
