UD to host workshop for accounting faculty

9:17 a.m., June 16, 2005--The American Accounting Association is holding an XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) teaching workshop from Sunday through Tuesday, June 19-21, at the Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel and Purnell Hall.

Faculty from two-year and four-year institutions who teach financial accounting, management accounting, auditing or accounting information systems were selected randomly from preregistered participants last March, and the workshop is full.

XBRL is becoming an increasingly accepted part of the business environment for filing financing statements and in business applications, such as the monitoring of financial institutions and for international usages. The course will discuss the underlying technology of XBRL and its applications to business problems. Participants in the workshop will be able to teach XBRL in a range of courses in undergraduate and graduate programs.

Clinton White, professor of accounting at UD, and Roger Debreceny of the University of Hawaii will conduct the workshop.

For more information, contact Linda Watterworth at [Linda@aaahq.org] or at (914) 556-4118.
