Wine 101 at Blue & Gold Club beginning Oct. 5 4:50 p.m., Sept. 26, 2005--Budding wine connoisseurs are invited to enroll in the premier Introduction to Wine Course: Wine 101, which will be offered at UDs Blue & Gold Club at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday for five weeks, beginning Oct. 5. The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of wine, such as why a Chardonnay tastes different than a Riesling and what grapes are used to make a Cabernet versus a Pinot Noir, Laura DelPercio, club manager, said. The first class will be an introduction to tasting white wines, followed by a class on how to differentiate red wines. The third and fourth classes will cover international varieties and California wines, respectively. The course will conclude with a gourmet wine graduation dinner. Class size will be limited to 20 people. The cost for each of the first four classes is $10 and $28 for the graduation dinner.
