Alum twins on TV’s ‘The Cut’ Wednesday

Lisa and Nina Gordon
3:37 p.m., Sept. 6, 2005--When CBS’s reality series, The Cut, airs its next segment, at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, UD graduates and identical twins Lisa and Nina Gordon will be modeling the fashions of one of the designer finalists in a Macy’s window in Manhattan.

Lisa and Nina are the daughters of Linda Gottfredson, UD professor of education. Both graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences in May 2004 with honors and degrees in Spanish, Italian and French.

Since leaving the University, the twins have embarked on careers in modeling, freelancing for Twins Talent, Booked, R+L, LifeStyles, FunnyFace, Flaunt, Magteam, Innovative and Eye5.

Twins Talent booked them for The Cut, a reality show in which fashion design mogul Tommy Hilfiger conducts a search for the next great American designer choosing from 16 style-savvy contestants who compete in a series of style assignments that test their talent, business acumen, sales and marketing expertise, social skills and resourcefulness. The winner will have the opportunity to design his or her own collection under the Tommy Hilfiger label.

In Wednesday’s episode, the remaining three finalists, Elizabeth (Liz), Chris and Princess must create a window at Macy’s Herald Square store unveiling their own “lifestyle brand.”

The Gordon twins are modeling for Liz, who will show her fashions during a “day in the life” scene that starts with pajamas and ends with an evening gown.

Lisa Gordon said the pace was frenetic, but they loved it. “The idea was that the two of us were made to appear to be the same person. There were two of each of the three outfits--PJs with a robe, a business suit and an evening gown. One of us would enter the window dressed in the PJs and pretend to wake up and pick out the business suit hanging in the closet and then leave through a curtain. Then, the other would enter immediately already dressed in the business suit and pretend to prepare to leave for work.”

“It was fun, but so chaotic because there was barely time to change into each outfit,” Nina Gordon said. “There was a huge audience outside our store window. The public couldn't understand at first how one person could change so quickly, but some of them eventually figured out that we were twins.”

Lisa and Nina said they don’t know who won, but they are convinced it should be Elizabeth.
