Town Conversation slated for Thursday

1:14 p.m., April 11, 2005--Newark’s Town & Gown Committee will host its second Town Conversation at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 14, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark, 420 Willa Road, just off West Park Place behind West Park Elementary School.

At the first Town Conversation in November, discussion centered on three primary areas: alcohol abuse and the need for cooperative efforts to address it; efforts to achieve a mutually beneficial relationship between the city of Newark and the University; and acceptance and inclusion of UD students as responsible members of the larger Newark community.

“This second Town Conversation will focus on the three primary topics and will include brief presentations and open discussion groups for each,” Ron Smith, chairperson of the Town & Gown Committee, said. “We believe that this will provide a path for answers to the concerns expressed at our fall meeting and will allow our stakeholders the opportunity to help determine solutions.”

The Town Conversation will begin with refreshments and an informal meet-and-greet session from 7-7:30 p.m. All are invited to join the Town & Gown Committee for an informative and exciting evening.

The Town & Gown Committee is a group of city, community and UD representatives dedicated to addressing issues affecting the campus and Newark community. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/towngown].
