Students sought for computer use survey 11:58 a.m., April 4, 2005--University of Delaware freshmen and seniors, along with freshmen and seniors at 49 other institutions of higher learning across the United States are being asked to participate in a survey on computer use in higher education. Sponsored by the Educause Center for Applied Research (ECAR), a Colorado-based nonprofit association dedicated to advancing higher education through the intelligent use of information technology, the survey targets college students to gauge how they use computers to augment their studies. To help with the research, UD students in the target population are particularly encouraged to participate. Every UD freshman and senior with a University Internet connection will receive an e-mail asking them to complete the survey between Monday, April 4, and Monday, April 18. The survey, which includes approximately 25 questions, will be similar to the in-house survey circulated by IT each fall for the past few years. Thorough completion will help chart a course for the use of computers in higher education in years to come, and all participating students will be entered in a drawing for several $50 gift certificates. Personal anonymity is guaranteed. For more information about ECAR, visit [www.educause.edu/ecar].
