Talk on blacks political struggles set Oct. 17 4:14 p.m., Oct. 10, 2005--Blacks Struggle for Political Power in the Era of Socioeconomic Transition: They Got Politically Dressed Up and Have No Place to Go, a lecture by Theodore J. Davis, UD associate professor of political science and international relations, is set for 12:20-1:10 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17, in 205 Gore Hall. The second lecture in UDs fall Black American Studies Lecture Series, Davis talk will focus on African-American voting patterns since the end of the American civil rights movement and will examine American blacks contemporary political influence. Besides shedding light on how shifting values and improved life changes among African Americans since the early 70s have influenced blacks struggle for political power, Davis also will consider how discriminatory factors, such as racism and segregation, have muffled blacks political voice.
