Atlanta alumni invited to art exhibit opening 3:41 p.m., Sept. 2, 2005--UD alumni and friends in the Atlanta area are invited to the Spelman College Museum of Fine Arts opening reception in celebration of a new exhibition, A Century of African American Art: Selections from the Paul R. Jones Collection, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8. The Paul R. Jones Collection is among the worlds oldest, largest and most complete holdings of works by 20th-Century African American artists. Jones donated the core of his 1,500-piece collection, amassed over the course of the past four decades, to the University of Delaware in February 2001. The Atlanta reception features a gallery talk by Amalia Amaki, artist and curator of the Paul R. Jones Collection and the 2005-06 Scholar-in-Residence at Spelman College.
