Sleep disorders talk slated Thursday

3:39 p.m., March 22, 2005--New findings about how sleep disorders affect daily functioning are the subjects of this month’s installment in the Department of Nursing’s spring lecture series.

“Can’t Sleep at Night, Can’t Function During the Day: Sleep Disorders and Daily Functioning, A Program of Research,” by Terri Weaver, associate professor and chairperson of Biobehavioral and Health Sciences Division, School of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania, will be presented at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, March 24, in the Trabant University Center movie theatre.

Part of “NURS 362, Research Concepts in Health Care,” series speakers are actively involved in National Institutes of Health-funded research. The lectures in the series, held from 10:15 a.m.-noon, Thursdays, in the Trabant University Center, are open to UD faculty, staff and students.

Remaining lectures in the series include:

  • “What Can You Ask a Snake About Cancer?” by Mary Ann McLane, associate professor of medical technology, April 14, rooms 209 and 211; and
  • “The Impact of Painful Stress on Neuroendocrine and Immune Function,” by Gayle Page, associate professor and director of doctoral program, School of Nursing, Johns Hopkins University, May 5, movie theatre.
