Register now for problem-based learning workshop 8:47 a.m., April 1, 2005--UD’s Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education, [www.udel.edu/inst/], is offering a three-day introductory workshop entitled, Problem-Based Learning: From Ideas to Solutions through Communication, from Wednesday through Friday, June 15-17. The workshop will demonstrate problem-based learning (PBL) and how it can be used effectively in all disciplines, upper and lower division courses and classes of all sizes. One focus of the program will be on writing effective problem-based material. Participants should leave the session with new or revised problems for use in their courses. Another component will be engaging students in research and communication as part of the PBL process. Registration deadline is Friday, June 3. The number of participants will be limited to approximately 60. Because this workshop regularly reaches full capacity by mid-May, early registration is encouraged. UD employees attend free. There is a $495 registration fee for off-campus participants who register before Friday, June 3. After that, the registration fee is $595.
