Institutional Repository launch set April 18

4:13 p.m., March 24, 2005--The University of Delaware Library is holding a reception to celebrate the successful implementation of UD’s Institutional Repository at noon, Monday, April 18, in the 1941 lecture Room of the Morris Library. Provost Dan Rich will speak at 12:15 p.m., and refreshments will be served.

The Institutional Repository is a groundbreaking library system that uses open-source DSpace software to make University of Delaware original research available in digital form, including technical reports, working papers, conference papers, images and more, through one interface.

The repository is limited to materials for which the copyright is owned by the author or the University. Research is added on a continuing basis, and University faculty and staff are invited to consider placing their research in the Institutional Repository. Designed to make participation easy, communities, such as schools, departments, labs and centers, can adapt the system to meet their needs and manage the submission process themselves.

For more information about placing research in the Institutional Repository, contact by telephone or e-mail Sandra K. Millard, assistant director for library public services at (302) 831-2231 or [skm@udel.edu]; Gregg Silvis, assistant director for library computing systems, at (302) 831-2231 or [gregg@udel.edu]; William Simpson, assistant librarian, at (302) 831-0188 or [wsimpson@udel.edu]; or Susan Brynteson, May Morris Director of Libraries, at (302) 831-2231 or [susanb@udel.edu].

To request an invitation to the reception, call (302) 831-2231 or send e-mail to [libraryrsvp@winsor.lib.udel.edu].
