Bonnie Rideout Scottish Trio performs March 18

Bonnie Rideout
5:01 p.m., March 12, 2005--Bonnie Rideout, one of the finest and most fiery Scottish fiddlers, will bring the evocative music of the Highlands to UD’s 2004-05 Performing Arts Series at 8 p.m., Friday, March 18, in Mitchell Hall.

On stages from Scotland's Edinburgh International Festival to America's Kennedy Center, Rideout's style of fiddling has charmed audiences with her knowledge of traditional Scottish dance tunes, Highland bagpipe music and ancient Gaelic melodies, each reflecting the rich musical tradition of her heritage.

Tickets are $17 for the general public, $12 for UD faculty, staff, alumni and senior citizens and $5 for students and children. A 15 percent is available for group sales of 20 or more tickets per show.

For tickets, call the Hartshorn box office at (302) 831-2204, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

At noon, Friday, March 18, the Hartshorn box office will stop selling tickets for the performance to allow for the transition to the Mitchell Hall box office. Any remaining tickets will be available for purchase in person at the Mitchell Hall box office beginning one hour before the scheduled start time of the performance.

The University of Delaware 2004-05 Performing Arts Series and Family Series are made possible, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency committed to promoting and supporting the arts in Delaware, as well as support by Embassy Suites-Newark/Wilmington South and Arby's.
