Poetry expert to speak at UD on Wednesday 3 p.m., Sept. 21, 2005--Joseph Parisi, long time editor of Poetry Magazine, will give a talk on The Amazing Revelations: Letters from Modernist Poets at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, in 127 Memorial Hall. Parisi edited Poetry Magazine from 1983 to 2003, where he also served as the executive director of the Modern Poetry Association. An accomplished author, Parisi also has published several anthologies and history books. His latest works include The Poetry Anthology, 1912-2002 and Dear Edition: A History of Poetry in Letters: The First 50 Years, 1912-1962. Parisi, who received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Chicago, lectures nationwide on modernist literature and American poetry. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2000 and was elected a by-fellow of Churchill College in 2002. The lecture is free and open to the public.
