Nostalgic musical set March 22

3:22 p.m., March 10, 2005--The Frank and Yetta Chaiken Center for Jewish Studies is cosponsoring a musical play, Molly Picon’s Return Engagement, at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, in the Loudis Recital Hall in the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

A nostalgic look into the vanished world of Yiddish theatre, the musical by prizewinning playwright Sarah Blacher Cohen tells the story of Jewish actress Molly Picon, who was known at the height of her career as “the Yiddish Helen Hayes.”

The March 22 performance stars Renee Matthews and Gerald Bailey, who have performed the play to standing ovations across the country and in Canada.

The performance is free and open to the public. Other sponsors of the play are UD’s departments of English, Music and Theatre.
