Art exhibition honors the late Mohamed Malik
The exhibition, Honorable Mention, presents photography, sculpture and design pieces by Mr. Malik, as well as text reflections from those who were affected by his work and presence. The exhibition will be on view from Sept. 8-21. Mr. Malik studied computer science, visual communications and fine art at UD. His creative work in sculpture and photography reflected his intense awareness of the preciousness of each moment, according to Priscilla Smith, associate professor of fine arts and visual communications. Though he concealed his terminal illness from his peers, Mohamed's remarkable drive to create meaningful art about his life has been an inspiration to students and faculty. His work remains poignant testimony of a young artist's acute awareness of his own mortality. Mr. Malik was born in Nairobi, Kenya. The Malik family moved to Delaware to have their sons illness treated by Dr. Michael Trigg at Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children in Wilmington. Mr. Malik attended Concord High School in Wilmington, where he received a Presidents Award for Educational Excellence in 1999. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
