D.C. watchdog to discuss media ethics March 16

Charles Lewis
4:37 p.m., March 8, 2005--UD alumnus Charles Lewis will discuss “The End of Truth: Power, the News Media and the People’s Right to Know,” at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, in 104 Gore Hall, as part of the spring Du Pont Scholars Lecture Series.

A former investigative reporter and producer for CBS-TV’s 60 Minutes, Lewis founded the Center for Public Integrity in 1990.

A top nonpartisan government watchdog organization based in Washington, D.C., the Center for Public Integrity is known for its investigative reports on political, corporate and media corruption across the United States and around the world.

A political science and international relations major who graduated from UD with honors and distinction in 1975, Lewis earned a master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University, as well as a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, commonly called the “genius award.”

Free and open to the public, the Du Pont Scholars Lecture Series is cosponsored by the Unidel Foundation and the University Honors Program. For more information about the lectures and the series, call (302) 831-1195.
