Talk on ‘The Left at War’ set Oct. 6

4:30 p.m., Sept. 29, 2005--Michael Berube, Paterno Family Professor in Literature at Penn State, will discuss “The Left at War: Cultural Studies and Cultural Conflict since 9/11,” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, in 127 Memorial Hall.

The lecture, sponsored by the English department, is free and open to the public.

Berube will discuss the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and analyze debates among liberal-left cultural critics in the 1990s.

Berube is the author of Marginal Forces/ Cultural Centers: Tolson, Pynchon and the Politics of the Canon, as well as Public Access: Literary Theory and American Cultural Politics.
