Talk on keeping kids safe set April 21

2:56 p.m., April 11, 2005--UD’s Faculty and Staff Assistant Program (FSAP) will hold a lunchtime seminar, “Safeproofing Your Kids,” from noon-1:15 p.m., Thursday, April 21, in the Collins Room of the Perkins Student Center. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 14.

The speakers will be Joanne Kassees, a licensed professional counselor of mental health in private practice, and Angela Seguin, coordinator of UD’s S.O.S. (Sexual Offense Support) group, which serves survivors of all forms of sexual assault and educates the UD community about related issues.

The program will offer strategies for keeping children safe from becoming victims of sexual abuse. There also will be a discussion of parenting styles and subtle messages parents send that could help prevent children from becoming perpetrators of sexual violence. Following the talks, there will be a discussion and a question-and-answer session.

Attendees are invited to bring lunch; beverages and dessert will be provided.

To register, go to [www.udel.edu/fsap] or e-mail [jskeen@udel.edu].
