Liberty Day fun, fireworks at UD

2:24 p.m., June 24, 2005--There will be music, food, fun and a fireworks finale at the city of Newark’s 29th annual Liberty Day celebration, from 4 p.m. until dusk, Monday, July 4, at UD’s Athletic Complex at the corners of Routes 896 and 4.

The free event features food and entertainment by local artists Ray Owen, Soul Avengers and Club Phred.

The children’s area will have games of skill and chance, inflatables fun and performances by Crabmeat Thompson, Jeff Richardson, Miss Vicky and the Juggling Hoffmans on the children’s stage. Crash the Clown will stroll the grounds.

Because pets can be uncomfortable or even at risk in the heat and around crowds, city officials are asking that pets not be brought to the event.

Coordinated by the Newark Parks and Recreation Department, the celebration is free and open to the public, with free parking available at the UD complex and in DaimlerChysler’s parking lot 2.

For more event information, call (302) 366-7060. For cancellation information in case of inclement weather, call (302)-366-7147.
