Hotel steps up parking enforcement efforts 11 a.m., Sept. 13, 2005--The Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel has launched a campaign to make individuals aware that parking in its parking lot is limited to hotel guests and staff. Among the measures taken by the hotel management will be the issuing of warning letters for unauthorized vehicles, followed by towing at the vehicle owners expense if the problem is not satisfactorily resolved. The measures are designed to increase public awareness that parking in one of the 144 spaces in the parking lot of the 126-room hotel adjacent to the Clayton Hall Conference Center on UDs Laird Campus is reserved for hotel staff and guests. Guests and staff are issued parking permits that will assist hotel management in the proper identification of authorized vehicles. In addition, signs stating the hotel parking policy also have been installed. William Sullivan, managing director of Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware, said that a warning letter will be left on vehicles violating hotel parking policies. As a last step unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owners expense. We want to have a good relationship with students, but we also have a business that requires adequate parking, Sullivan said. We want to give everyone plenty of notice before we go to the step of towing vehicles. We really hope that all students and other visitors heed the warning and park in the proper location.
