7 p.m., May 28, 2005--Four students in UD’s Class of 2005 were recognized for achieving the highest cumulative grade index—4.0—in full-time study for a baccalaureate degree at the University during Commencement May 28.

Recognized at the ceremony by Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner were Catherine Anne Connelly, Joshua Aaron Gerstenblith, Krista Nicole Velez and Claire Marie Zelinskas.

Connelly, the daughter of Thomas and Rose Anne Connelly of Cranford, N.J., received a bachelor of science degree in food science and technology, with a concentration in food science and a minor in chemistry. After graduation, she will work for The Robertet Group, a major supplier of flavors, fragrances and raw materials in New Jersey.

Gerstenblith, the son of Jay and Miriam Gerstenblith of Baltimore, received a bachelor of science in accounting, with a minor in economics. Soon, he will sit for the CPA exam and hopes to be licensed in the state of Maryland.

Velez, the daughter of Tito and Nancy Velez of Marlboro, N.Y., graduated with a degree in music education, with a concentration in flute. This fall, she will pursue a master’s degree in music, with a concentration in education at the University of Delaware.

Zelinskas, the daughter of Eric and Sandra Zelinskas, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., received a degree in medical technology. This fall, she will continue her studies in medical school.
