Blue-Gold football game Saturday at UD 10:07 a.m., June 21, 2005--The annual Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star football game marks its 50th anniversary on Saturday, June 25, when top high school players from the First State line up on Tubby Raymond Field in Delaware Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m., with pregame activities starting at 6 p.m. General admission is $8. For tickets, visit any Happy Harrys drugstore or call (302) 454-2730. The game, which benefits the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Cognitive Disabilities (DFRC), was first played in 1956 with the support of two local sports enthusiasts, Jim Williams and Bob Carpenter, the later one of UDs most important benefactors and the namesake of the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center. DFRC is a private, nonprofit foundation dedicated to raising consciousness and identifying and funding programs based on community needs that enrich the lives of Delawareans with cognitive disabilities.
