Newark Film Festival offers variety 10:18 a.m., Sept. 20, 2005--The first Newark Film Festival will be held Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 22-25, at Cinema Center 3 in the Newark Shopping Center. The festival will feature classic and independent films on the big screen. The premier event will feature Winter Soldier, a documentary on the Winter Soldier Investigation conducted by Vietnam Veterans Against the War in Detroit during the winter of 1971. This film will be screened at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22. Patrick Stoner of WHYY-TV will introduce Kenneth Campbell, associate professor of political science and international relations at UD, who will discuss the film, in which he was featured as a young marine serving in Vietnam. There will be a question-and-answer period with Campbell after the film. Other films scheduled for the festival include Raging Bull, Murderball, The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, Babette's Feast, Mad Hot Ballroom, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Sideways, Spellbound, Napoleon Dynamite, Paper Clips and Big. Among the community sponsors of the festival are the University of Delaware International Film Series and the Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel.
