Students’ fashions to light up the runway

3:03 p.m., May 9, 2005--From bathing suits to ball gowns, designing students will demonstrate their creativity in couture at the annual Synergy Fashion Group show, “Masterpieces: Fashion Unveiled” at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 14, in the Trabant Multipurpose Rooms. The show highlights the collections of senior apparel-design students and other original clothing selected through open submission.

This year the event has added a new challenge--the “Synergy Blank Canvas.” Ten students were each issued 10 yards of muslin to cut, drape, sew, trim and transform into original creations, which will be modeled at the show and judged by industry professionals.

The fashion show will include students and professionals modeling different styles, accompanied by music that echoes the mood of the clothing, from mellow to rock.

“The fashion show is a popular event, which everyone enjoys. It is the culmination of a year of hard work and dedication by the members of Synergy and the apparel design majors at UD. It’s a tremendous undertaking worth it in the end,” said Synergy member senior Laura Fried.

Tickets are on sale for $5 at the Trabant University Center this week or may be purchased at the door for $7.
