UD’s Kimmie Meissner to appear on ESPN

Kimmie Meissner
9:25 a.m., March 23, 2005--Kimmie Meissner of the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club will be featured during the ESPN sports network’s coverage of the International Skating Union World Championships at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 27, from Moscow.

Meissner, 15, finished third in the U.S. national championships but was unable to compete in the senior world championships because of an age restriction. Instead, she competed in the world junior championships in Kitchener, Ontario, where she finished fourth.

At the U.S. national championships, Meissner made history by becoming just the second American ladies figure skater to complete a triple axel in competition.

Meissner will be featured in an ESPN segment called All-Access and will appear with men’s figure skater Paul Wylie.

The segment will include footage of Meissner in Moscow, talking with ladies figure skating great Peggy Fleming, shopping, skating in Gorky Park and discussing the world competition with Fleming and sports commentator Terry Gannon.
