Lectures address energy, environmental issues

2:09 p.m., April 1, 2005--Four lectures will examine topics related to environmental health in a colloquium series sponsored by the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, the graduate program in Environmental and Energy Policy, the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy and the University of Delaware.

Beginning Thursday, April 7, and concluding Thursday, May 12, the lectures will feature a range of visiting scholars, consultants and policy makers.

Mingma Sherpa, director of Asia & Pacific Programs, World Wildlife Fund, lectures on “Restoration of Biological Corridors: A New Paradigm for Saving Mega Fauna in the Asia and Pacific Region,” from noon-1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7, Rooms 209-211, Trabant University Center.

Bill Matuszeski, consultant and former director, Chesapeake Bay Program, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, discusses “Can Our Estuaries Be Saved?” from noon-1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 28, Ewing Room, Perkins Student Center.

Jong-dall Kim, professor and director of the Research Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy, Kyungbuk National University, South Korea, lectures on “Building a Sustainable Cities Movement: Asian Challenges and Strategies,” the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Distinguished Alumnus Colloquium, 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5, Ewing Room, Perkins Student Center.

Julian Agyeman, assistant professor of urban and environmental policy and planning, Tufts University, lectures on “Sustainable Communities and the Challenge of Environmental Justice,” from noon-1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 12, Ewing Room, Perkins Student Center.
