Distance learning conference set March 23 3:49 p.m., March 8, 2005--The Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey Distance Learning Association (PADLA) will be holding its 2005 conference, e-Learning Trailblazers, from 8:30 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, March 23, in Room 119 at Clayton Hall. Held to share the latest advances in distance learning, the conference is designed for distance learning professionals of all levels and experience and to provide opportunities for networking and sharing ideas. It will focus in emerging online teaching technologies and applications, and will be led entirely by UD-affiliated staff and faculty. The following programs will be featured and the morning will kick off with a complimentary continental breakfast. Using Online Education to Promote Technology Integration, Student Exchanges and Real-World Experiences, led by Brian Miller, UD assistant professor of hotel, restaurant and institutional management, will provide strategies for ensuring that distance-learning students are as professionally competitive as their traditional classroom-taught rivals. Distance Learning: Degree Programs, Ice Skating, a Museum of Mourning and More! led by Madeline Lambrecht, director of UDs Division of Special Programs, will provide information on distance-degree programs in nursing, and will include a demonstration of Judging Pair Skating, a course developed in partnership with the United States Figure Skating Association. The Delivery of Dietetics Education Beyond Geographically Imposed Boundaries, led by Ann Rucinski, UD dietetic internship director, will focus on technologies used to manage the nationwide Internet-based dietetic internship program.
