Food critic lecture, book-signing set Oct. 19
Shaw will begin his visit with a meet-and-greet and book-signing from 6-6:30 p.m., in 007 Willard Hall Education Building. At 7:15 p.m., he will give a lecture and a "behind-the-scenes" peek at the restaurant business, and after the presentation he will hold another book-signing session. Shaw, who is known for his entertaining and down-to-earth approach to restaurants, food and wine, will address such topics as how to get VIP treatment in even the swankiest restaurants, how to know whether a review is credible or not, and how to read a restaurant from its menu to its décor, in order to determine the best place for any occasion without gambling time or money. The free event, which is sponsored by UDs Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, is open to the public. For more information, call (302) 831-6747.
