Course development, redesign proposals sought

4:58 p.m., March 16, 2005--As part of the Paul R. Jones Initiative, UD faculty are invited to apply for funding to support the redesign of an existing course or the development of a new course that will enhance the diversification of curriculum through a focus on Africa and its diaspora, especially in the U.S.

Download the template for proposals at [www.art-sci.udel.edu/course-grants/]. Deadline for submissions is Monday, April 18.

Successful applicants will receive up to $6,000 in course development funds and will be invited to share their work-in-progress in a faculty seminar series to be hosted by the University Museums in 2005-06.

Preference will be given to faculty working on courses that are fully
integrated into their home department’s curriculum and that carry a
cross-listing with Black American Studies. Preference will also be given to projects that make use of the University Museums’ Paul R. Jones Collection [www.museums.udel.edu/jones/index5.2.html].

Departmental endorsement is required, including a commitment to and a plan for offering the course at least three times between 2005-06 and 2009-10.

For more information, contact [course-grants@art-sci.udel.edu].
