Free cones Tuesday at Trabant 4:35 p.m., April 18, 2005--Ice cream lovers who want to get their licks in for a free cone will want to stake a spot in front of the Ben & Jerrys kiosk at the Trabant University Center from noon-8 p.m.,Tuesday, April 19. Sponsored by UD Dining Services, the annual event, which began in 1996, is offered each spring to thank members of the campus and greater Newark community for their Food Court patronage. All cones and cups are free to anyone who shows up, and flavors include vanilla, Cherry Garcia, chocolate chip cookie dough and Phish Fooda concoction of chocolate ice cream with marshmallows, caramel sauce and fudge bits shaped like fish. In addition to celebrating loyal customers, the day of appreciation also is designed to boost social awareness, and representatives from Rock the Vote will be present to register those 18 and older. Regular business at the ice cream stand will be closed for the day, and no money will change hands. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
