Presidential Citations to be awarded Friday

p.m., Oct. 6, 2005--The campus community is invited to attend the University of Delaware Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement award ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7, in Bayard Sharp Hall marking the beginning of Homecoming Weekend activities.

The citations honor graduates of the past 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional and public service activities.

The 2005 Presidential Citation recipients are:

  • Arup K. Chakraborty '88Ph.D., College of Engineering, professor of chemical engineering and chairperson of the Department of Chemical Engineering at University of California, Berkeley;
  • Scott E. Fendorf '92Ph.D., College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, associate professor of soil and environmental chemistry at Stanford University;
  • Angela Tweedy Gladwell '98M, College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, historic preservation specialist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency;
  • Paul J. Kane '92, College of Arts and Sciences, senior writer for Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper;
  • Robert P. Meagley '96Ph.D., College of Arts and Sciences, senior staff scientist with Intel Corporation; and
  • Andrea L. Stith '95, College of Arts and Sciences, program officer for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
