Lecture on living with chronic illness set May 3

11:40 a.m., April 25, 2005--“Healthy Approaches to Dealing with Chronic Health Issues," a lunchtime lecture on strategies to help cope with chronic illness, is set for noon-1:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, in the Collins Room of the Perkins Student Center.

Led by Sean Hebbel, a licensed clinical social worker and program director for The Wellness Community in Newark, the lecture will offer coping skills for individuals living with chronic diseases. It also will address challenges related specifically to diabetes, multiple sclerosis, AIDS and various forms of cancer. Topics will include how to handle stress, make dietary and physical activity changes and manage pain.

The lecture is free and open to members of the University community, but registration is required by Tuesday, April 26. Participants are invited to bring bagged lunches. Beverages and desserts will be provided.
