Free broomball open house Friday night

4:55 p.m., Sept. 27, 2005--Students interested in playing in a coed broomball league at UD are invited to a free open house from 10-11:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, at the Fred Rust Ice Arena.

Those who attend do not have to know how to play broomball. Equipment will be provided, but participants should wear sneakers.

Instructors will demonstrate how to play broomball and students will have a chance to try playing the sport during the open house.

Jim Kaden, ice arena manager, said league games could pit residence halls against each other or floors versus floors. Teams must consist of at least seven players.

“We think this could be an exciting new opportunity for students,” Kaden said. “This is a noncheck, coed league.”

Games will be scheduled from 10 p.m.-1 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays, beginning Friday, Oct. 14. Teams must register by Monday, Oct. 10.

To register and for more information, e-mail Kaden at [Kaden@udel.edu].
