Update on Blue Cross-duPont Hospital negotiations 9:52 a.m., Aug. 3, 2005--Statewide Benefits (formerly State Personnel Office) recently provided UD's Office of Human Resources with updated information about the ongoing contract negotiations between Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Delaware and the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. These negotiations affect continuing services for Blue Cross subscribers who use the hospital and its physicians. The current contract between the hospital and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Delaware is scheduled to terminate on Aug. 28. If a settlement is not reached by this deadline, University employees who use these services may have to find alternate care providers. State of Delaware representatives are working with Blue Cross/Blue Shield to ensure continuity of care for health plan participants and their dependents. All available information is posted at the Human Resources web site at [www.udel.edu/hr/], and the site will be updated as more information becomes available. Currently, the web site includes a question-and-answer sheet, as well as a listing of pediatric and family physicians who participate with Blue Cross and who are available to assist UD employees who currently use a Nemours physician as their pediatrician. In addition, there is an open letter to Blue Cross/Blue Shield subscribers who have used the services of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital within the past 24 months.
