Fall art lecture series set

3:58 p.m., Sept. 22, 2005--UD’s Department of Fine Arts and Visual Communications has announced its fall semester schedule of public lectures.

The Margaret Allen Lecture Series is hosting three different speakers this fall.

Louise Fili, accomplished author and critic, will appear at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Trabant University Center Theatre. Fili is a book jacket designer who has won awards in major design competitions and was inducted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame in 2004.

Gary Baseman--a painter, illustrator, humorist and TV producer--will speak at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Trabant University Center Theatre. Baseman, who has published several articles and books, is the three-time Emmy-award-winning creator and executive producer of teacher’s Pet, an animated television series and feature-length film.

Buzz Spector--artist, critic and professor--will speak at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Trabant University Center Theatre. Spector, whose artwork has been shown in public and private galleries nationwide, is an accomplished writer on contemporary arts and culture.

UD’s Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Fine Arts and Visual Communications are cosponsoring a lecture by David Stork, a professor at Stanford University, on Friday, Oct. 14. (The time and place are yet to be determined.) Stork will discuss his research on how optical devices influenced Renaissance painters.
