Celebrate Ag Day April 30

9:31 a.m., April 29, 2005--Don't miss UD’s annual celebration of agriculture and natural resources--including children's games and activities, music, lots of good food and educational exhibits--from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, April 30, on the grounds of Townsend Hall.

A free, family-oriented public event organized by the “Ag Day Teamwork Class,” Ag Day promotes UD's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and raises funds for student clubs, Cooperative Extension's 4-H Clubs, Master Gardeners and related organizations.

Included among this year’s attractions are:

  • Farm-tour hayrides;
  • Livestock displays;
  • Pony rides;
  • Photos with “Rodney,” the pet Brahma bull;
  • “Raising a Seeing-Eye Puppy” demonstrations;
  • The “Buzz on Bee Biology and Apiculture”;
  • Managing neighborhood storm water;
  • Plant sales;
  • Delaware's wildlife;
  • Sheep shearing;
  • Mosquito control;
  • Live entertainment, lectures and demonstrations; and
  • Barbecue chicken, a pig roast, portabella sandwiches, hot dogs, popcorn, lemon twists, cotton candy, baked goods and more.

Admission and parking are free, and there will be minimal charges for food and some events. For more information, visit [http://ag.udel.edu/events/agday.htm], call (302) 831-2508 or e-mail [kra@udel.edu].
