Francis Alison Inaugural Lecture set May 18

Mark A. Barteau, Robert L. Pigford Professor and chairperson of the Department of Chemical Engineering
4:50 p.m., May 12, 2005--Mark A. Barteau, UD’s Robert L. Pigford Professor and chairperson of UD’s Department of Chemical Engineering, will deliver the 2005 Francis Alison Inaugural Lecture, set for 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, in 116 Gore Hall.

The lecture, “Connections and Missing Links in the Catalysis of Everyday Molecules,” will highlight Barteau’s current research on the formation of model catalytic materials.

Barteau, who is the 2004 recipient of the Francis Alison Award--the University’s highest faculty honor--has been a member of the UD faculty since 1982. His research focuses on chemical reactions at solid surfaces and their applications in heterogeneous catalysis.

The free lecture is open to the public. For more information, call (302) 831-2341.
