RSA plans events though April 30

11:01 a.m., April 18, 2005--A blood drive, charity ball, late-night dining event and community party will mark Resident Student Association Week 2005 this April.

Sponsored by UD’s Resident Student Association (RSA), the events are designed to celebrate the community spirit of students living on campus and strengthen bonds with residents of the greater Newark community.

A list of the events follows.

Blood Drive, noon-6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19 & 20, Multipurpose Rooms A, B and C, Trabant University Center. This event, which is cosponsored by Phi Sigma Pi and the Blood Bank of Delaware, is open to members of both the UD and greater Newark communities. To donate blood, participants must be 110 pounds or more and not have had a cold in the last two weeks.

Charity Ball, 7-11 p.m., Saturday, April 23, Multipurpose Rooms A, B and C, Trabant University Center. The theme of this year’s fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is “a night in the city.” Attire is semi-formal and tickets are $12 for individuals and $22 for a couple. Kiosks for purchasing tickets in advance will be set up in the Trabant Food Court from 3-5 p.m., Wednesday, April 20; 1-3 p.m., Thursday, April 21; and 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, April 22. Tickets also can be purchased at the door on the night of the dance.

Late-Night Dining, 10 p.m.-1 a.m., Thursday, April 21, Kent Dining Hall. This free breakfast-themed meal will feature pancakes, French toast, Danishes and chocolate milk. The event, which is cosponsored by Alternative Campus Events and the Delaware Repertoire Dance Company, will provide late-night studiers with a tasty snack break and a chance to catch up with friends before finals begin.

Mall-Stock 2005, 3-9 p.m., Saturday, April 30, North Green. Billed as the biggest registered student organization and community party of the year, this large-scale outdoor festival will have an Australian outback theme and will feature special guest Jungle John and his menagerie. Other attractions will include bouncy boxing, a velcro wall, an inflatable rock-climbing wall and musical notables Amanda Kaletsky, Quick Step John, Jealousy Curve, Radiowhore and DJ Amaze. Members from several registered student organizations will staff booths where festival-goers can learn about getting involved with different campus activities.

For more information on any of the events, e-mail RSA special project chairpersons Megan Graham [mgraham@udel.edu] or Casey Graney [miels@udel.edu].
