B&E hosts alumni awards ceremony Oct. 8

4:36 p.m., Sept. 30, 2005--UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics is hosting its 2005 Alumni Awards of Excellence Ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Chaplin Tyler Atrium of Alfred Lerner Hall.

Immediately after the ceremony a traditional Homecoming Tailgate Brunch will be from 10-11 a.m. in the Chaplin Tyler Atrium. Also during the brunch, the Class of 1980 will celebrate its 25th reunion.

Each year, the college presents its Alumni Award of Excellence to graduates who have shown exceptional personal and professional achievements. Fellow alumni and members of the University community choose the nominees, and the recipients are honored at the awards ceremony during Homecoming.

The 2005 recipients include Nicolas M. Marsini Jr. from the Class of 1977, executive vice president and CFO of PFPC Worldwide Inc. Matthew C. Minker III also is being honored. Minker is a 2002 MBA graduate who is the owner and president of Minker Construction Inc., the Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball team, and the Omaha Royals baseball team. The third recipient is Class of 1975 graduate Vincent A. Schiavi, who is the president of Schiavi and Co.

All Lerner College alumni and friends are welcome to attend the ceremony and the brunch. The event is free, however, advance reservations are required.
