Instructional grants prep session set Oct. 6

3 p.m., Sept. 14, 2004--The application process has begun for faculty and professional instructional grants ranging from $2,000-$20,000, available July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006.

UD’s Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE), General Education
Initiative (GEI) and Information Technologies (IT) award the grants to projects that enhance and revise undergraduate courses and fit their criteria to be explained during a grant preparation session from 2:30-4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, in 208 Gore Hall. Registration for the grant session is online at [http://present.smith.udel.edu/calendar/index.php] or [www.udel.edu/present/grant/].

The grant program focuses on three general education goals: ethics, cultural diversity (including revision to currently designated multi-cultural courses) and service learning.

The preparation session will explain the three general education goals within the grant process, clarify the criteria used to select proposals and provide assistance with project planning by faculty and professional staff experienced in the application of the goals.

The application process begins with the pre-proposal. Selected pre-proposals require a full proposal. All proposals are evaluated by a committee appointed by the provost. Examples of projects funded in the past and profiles of faculty who received funding are available at [www.udel.edu/cte/grants.htm] and
[www.udel.edu/present/profiles/index.html].

Grant deadlines:

  • Pre-proposal due: Sunday, Oct. 31;
  • Pre-proposals returned: Friday, Nov. 19;
  • Final proposal due: Sunday, Jan. 9; and
  • Grant recipients announced: Friday, Jan. 28.
