Undergraduate Research Symposium on May 8 1:56 p.m., April 30, 2004--The campus community is invited to attend UDs Undergraduate Research Symposium to be held during Honors Day weekend from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, May 8, at the Perkins Student Center. This year, 57 senior thesis candidates will present their work. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with poster and exhibit sessions and oral presentations running concurrently from 9:15 a.m.-noon at various locations in Perkins. Exhibitors include undergraduates doing research in political science, criminal justice, literature, film, poetry, the short story, chemistry, biomedical science, foreign languages and literatures, linguistics, education and well-being. Joseph Salvatore Jr., theater artist and educator at New York University and Long Island University will keynote the 10:30 a.m. plenary session. Salvatore earned an honors degree in history from UD in 1995. The symposium marks the completion of the senior thesis course for Honors Degree with Distinction and Degree with Distinction students. Besides recognizing exceptional research work at the undergraduate level, the free public event promotes student awareness of undergraduate research possibilities.
