State supplements general salary fund

4:35 p.m., June 11, 2004--Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner has made monies available to augment the salaries of state employees whose pay rates were frozen during the past several years as a result of the economic downturn in the state.

Since UD employees received regular salary increases during that period, the monies provided under Senate Bill 240 will be applied to the University’s general salary fund for employees.

“As most University of Delaware employees know, the University, unlike the state of Delaware and many other employers, has given annual salary increases on a regular basis,” Maxine R. Colm, vice president for administration, said.

“We are grateful that the state has been able to provide salary assistance this year,” she said. “We also are pleased that it has been possible to augment this state support with University funding and thus have our employees once again fare better than if only the funds provided by the state had been available.”
