Panel to discuss equal opportunity Jan. 19

1:55 p.m., Jan. 9, 2004--A panel discussion of racial equality will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at the DuPont Theatre at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington.

Titled “Is Opportunity Equal?” the program will feature a panel of six nationally known speakers, including moderator Juan Williams, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and senior correspondent for National Public Radio.

Kimberly Williams Crenshaw, professor of law at Columbia University and UCLA; Constance Curry, a veteran civil rights activist; Maria Echaveste, former deputy chief of staff to President Clinton; Charles Vest, president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Frank Wu, professor of law at Howard University, will round out the panel of guest speakers.

The lecture is sponsored by DuPont and is part of the Primo Lecture Series, a public awareness forum inspired by the Rev. Quintin E. Primo Jr., who worked to promote equality for all people.

The DuPont Theatre is located at the corner of 10th and Market streets in Wilmington. Regular admission to the lecture is $15; $10 for students and seniors. For reservations, call 656-4401. For more information on the Primo Lecture Series, call 1-800-801-6444, or visit [http://www.primolectureseries.com].
