National Internet2 videoconference at UD March 18
4:02 p.m., March 16, 2004--Thursday, March 18, is the first-ever virtual National Internet2 Day, and there will be two videoconference sites on campus so members of the University community can participate in this interactive event. UD is a charter member of the Internet2 consortium. The primary site will be the Computing Center at 192 South Chapel St., with a satellite site at 111 Pearson Hall, which has a capacity of 10. Refreshments will be served at the Computing Center site. Throughout the day from 8:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m., national speakers in science, engineering and performing arts will demonstrate how Internet2 can be used to support teaching, collaboration technologies, research and jazz performance. Members of the UD community are invited to come and go as their schedules permit. Registration, while not required, is suggested and may be completed at [http://events.internet2.edu/2004/Internet2Day/NIDReg2004.html] The videoconference is designed to elevate UD faculty and student awareness to the technologies available on campus through Internet2 membership. Internet2 applications can make a tremendous difference in how students learn, professors teach and researchers collaborate. Internet2 develops and deploys advanced network applications and technologies for research and higher education and establishes partnerships among academia, industry and government to accelerate the creation of tomorrow’s Internet.
