Research funding online workshop set Nov. 11
11:50 a.m., Nov. 5, 2003--The University of Delaware Library is offering faculty, students and staff a workshop that will help them find funding for projects without leaving their offices.
Research Funding Online, taught by Carol Rudisell, reference department librarian will be held from 10 a.m. noon, Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Sussman Room (Room 056) on the lower level of Morris Library. Workshop seating is limited, so pre-registration is encouraged. Register by calling 831-2432.
The workshop will familiarize participants with electronic resources to search for grants from private foundations, corporations, government agencies, public charities and other organizations, as well as strategies for searching the Community of Science (COS) Funding Opportunities database and FC Search, the Foundation Center database on CD-ROM.
The COS database provides access to more than 20,000 grants in all fields of research, including the social sciences and humanities. COS also maintains an expertise database of faculty research profiles.
The workshop also will demonstrate the COS Funding Alert, a customized service that automatically sends e-mails to individual researchers notifying them of new grants available in their specific fields of research.
The Foundation Center's database provides a comprehensive listing of active U.S. foundations and corporate giving programs and their associated grants.
