Josep Escoda graduated in Physical Education at INEF (University of Human Science), Barcelona, Spain in 1982. After graduating, Josep developed the first computer based tools for biomechanical analysis at INEF. These included the development of solutions capable of capturing two dimensional (2D) images, processing human movement data, and generating graphical reports for analysis by students and teachers.

Josep joined Spain's Olympic Training Centre project, Centre d'Alt Rendiment (CAR), Sant Cugat, under the direction of Juan A.Prat, from 1987 to 1995, and Francesc de Puig 1996 to present day. Josep has been responsible for directing Research, Sports Sciences and Technology Units at CAR Sant Cugat on the last 22 years.

Josep lead the development of various biomechanical analysis projects in partnership with CEIT University of Basque Country. Josep was also a member of the IOC Medical Commission responsible for the broadcasting of sport science and biomechanics at the Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Josep currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the International Association of High Performance Sport Training Centres (IAHPSTC).

Josep currently serves as a member of the Racing Council of the IWSF International Water Ski Federation. And involved on Technical Committee of the ITTF International Table Tennis Federation

Josep was a former athlete in freestyle skiing competing at Catalan and Spanish level, and in the World Cup in 1986.

Josep continues to be involved with the sport today at the elite level through various team management and technical support roles within others: The IOC , Olympic Solidarity Programs and NOCs arround the world.
