'Global Perspectives'
Photo contest, social media campaign encourage students to share international experiences
9:23 a.m., Dec. 12, 2014--The University of Delaware Institute for Global Studies (IGS) has announced the 2014-15 photo contest theme, “Global Perspectives,” which is aimed at encouraging students studying abroad to share their inspiring snapshots.
The contest is open to all students who have or will study abroad on UD programs during the 2014-15 academic year including summer and fall 2014 and winter and spring 2015 programs. All entries must be submitted by March 13, 2015, at 5 p.m.

Submissions will be accepted in three categories: Portraiture, Landscape, and Global Engagement.
Judges will be looking for photos showing how students immersed themselves and engaged with the local culture, what they observed during their travels, and striking scenes capturing the beauty and energy of where they studied abroad.
Photo submissions should be accompanied by a short caption and title exemplifying the impact of study abroad on the students’ commitment to global citizenship, or the multitude of diversity and culture they first came into contact with while abroad.
#UDAbroad taught me…
This winter, IGS is also offering students the opportunity to be featured on official University social media and share what studying abroad taught them.
Students need to hold up a sign that says, “#UDAbroad taught me...” and then insert their most creative answer. Include the program title, location and year somewhere on the sign, and then take a photo or a five-second video.
Students can email their photos or videos to go-global@udel.edu or post on social media using the tag #UDAbroad and @UDGlobal.
If students or faculty are interested in sharing their study abroad experience with the community, include #UDAbroad in social media posts or tag @UDGlobal. Remember to use good judgment when creating posts as content can go anywhere on the Internet, and represent the University, as well as the individual. For more information, visit this website.
Submissions in the “#UDAbroad taught me…” campaign will be used to create a Flipogram or short video to inspire future Blue Hens to expand their horizons and discover where they will find themselves.
