8 a.m., Nov. 17, 2015--Morgan Young of Sayville, New York, a sophomore majoring in apparel design in the University of Delaware’s Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies, has won a $10,000 scholarship in a personal styling contest.
The online competition was hosted by Keeper Circle, a Vancouver-based startup marketing service for retailers, which enables customers to virtually try on clothes. The company also has a blog showcasing items inspired by future leaders of the fashion industry.

Participants in the contest styled an outfit to go with a classic Chanel bag, posted photos on Facebook and were entered into a raffle based on the number of “likes” each received. Young, who was one of more than 2,000 contestants, tallied 1,200 likes for a third-place finish that allowed her to be part of the final raffle.
She won the raffle and its $10,000 prize.
Young enlisted friends to help her edit and post her photos and then, she said, “I worked for weeks asking everyone I knew and even strangers to vote for me on Facebook.”
She plans to study couture design in Paris and hopes to create her own sustainable fashion line one day. “I want to recycle clothing and ultimately change the way the apparel industry affects the environment,” she said.
