4-H STEM contest
Delaware 4-H competes for $10,000 in national STEM contest
1:46 p.m., March 9, 2015--Delaware 4-H is working to secure its lead and win a $10,000 science scholarship being offered through a 4-H GROWN Alumni Campaign sponsored by the National 4-H Council and HughesNet.
The interactive campaign invites the estimated 25 million 4-H alumni across the U.S. to help direct sponsorship funding by checking in, tagging friends and casting votes to bring more science innovation experiences to youth in their hometown communities. On social media, the contest uses #4HGrown.

With one week remaining in the contest, University of Delaware Cooperative Extension is encouraging the state’s 4-H alumni, family and friends to check in at this website to help secure the lead that Delaware 4-H has had since the outset of the contest.
According to a National 4-H post, Delaware is in first and West Virginia is a close second. Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island round out the top five states in competition for the scholarship.
A countdown clock and leaderboard are featured on the #4HGrown website, and the contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 16.
There is added incentive beyond the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), or “Innovator Incubator,” scholarship.
If Delaware wins a sponsorship, up to two local young innovators will have a chance to receive an all expenses paid trip to the flagship 4-H National Youth Science Day event in Washington, D.C., where they will participate in the world’s largest youth-led science experiment.
