May 5: Day of Service
Inaugural Cinco de Mayo Day of Service to be held Saturday
11:25 a.m., April 26, 2012--The University of Delaware will hold its inaugural Cinco de Mayo Day of Service on Saturday, May 5.
The event, sponsored by the University Student Centers' Blue Hen Leadership Program and co-sponsored by the Interfraternity Council and the Student Centers Programming Advisory Board (SCPAB), will send student teams to eight different service sites in Newark and Wilmington -- Easter Seals, Urban Promise, Mary Campbell Center for the Developmentally Disabled, Newark Department of Parks and Recreation, Redd Park/Newark Reservoir, Newark Arts Alliance and Faithful Friends Animal Society animal shelter.

June 6-9: Food and culture series
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with service hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants will receive a Cinco de Mayo Day of Service T-shirt, breakfast and lunch.
Check-in and breakfast is 9-9:30 a.m. Transportation to the sites will be provided.
Following the projects, students will return to campus for UDairy Creamery ice cream and a chance to reflect on the day's volunteer efforts.
